MAYA TANAKA
CEO
With a diverse and expansive resume, Maya is an accomplished creative designer in the film industry in Japan and beyond. Drawing from a Master’s degree in architecture, Maya approaches projects with an informed sense of space both on set and in the design and conceptualizing processes. As the leader of SHUMI, his experience carries each project to its highest potential.
TAYLOR FEHR
Set Dresser
Taylor Fehr is a Tokyo-based professional Set Dresser, continuously growing her art and on-set experience while working on movies, TV shows, commercials, etc.
She has created many digital and physical items for on-set productions, like painted, wooden signs, prop magazines, prop fast food wrappers, handheld flags and fans, and more. She has also sourced and collected multiple props, which were used by the main cast in productions yet to be released.
FRANK OKAY
Set Dresser
Frank Okay graduated from Columbia College School of Art + Design with a concentration in illustration. Having studied art with the Chicago performing arts collective The Neo-Futurists and working for nearly two decades in the Chicago DIY art scene, Frank is an award-winning illustrator and experienced creative and art director. Carrying a wide range of skills in the fine arts, design, film and television productions, Okay pursues an interdisciplinary creative practice multimedia art and design worlds, bringing a new dimension to each project.
KEVIN STUART HOGSTRAM
Set Dresser
Kevin started out with an education in game development and then pivoted into textile design, before coming to Japan to round out his skillset with Japanese language and further textile courses.Since joining SHUMI.inc he has further rounded out his skillset with the broad range of tasks that goes into each project. Including the methodologies involved in crafting various types of decorations, both digitally and physically, as well as sourcing and collecting props and materials on short notices.
